HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE

Household Hazardous Wastes (HHW) are those wastes produced in our households that are hazardous in nature (ignitable, corrosive, reactive, toxic), but that are not regulated as hazardous wastes under federal and state laws. Identifying HHW is easy: Look for keywords on the container such as poison, danger, caution, flammable, corrosive, or use in a well-ventilated area. This includes items such as old paints and paint related products, pesticides, pool chemicals, drain cleaners, degreasers and other car care products.  KES’ permitted facility provides safe and effective collection and disposal of HHW for residents.

UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK

Underground storage tanks (UST’s) can be a source of concern and frustration for property owners.  Almost all of them leak at one point or another and this contaminates the surrounding soil and groundwater.  For smaller tanks, this is usually a relatively straightforward process involving:

  • Pumping out the tank

  • Removing the tank

  • Removing the contaminated soil

But for larger underground storage tanks, such as gas stations, the closure requires a State certified UST Decommissioner, and the process involves:

  • Initial assessment

  • Permitting

  • Vacuum Truck Services

  • Fuel/Oil Disposal

  • Tank, Pipe, and Pump Removal

  • Contaminated soil excavation, transportation, and disposal.

  • Closure sampling

  • Closure reports

Whether you have a small underground home heating oil tank, or a gas station with multiple 10,000+ gallon UST’s, we can help.  We have removed countless tanks across the Southwest and returned the sites back to pre-contamination condition.  We can handle every aspect of the process to provide a turnkey solution for your property.
